Caring For You Retirement Home was born from a simple, powerful longing: to come home.

Elizabeth and Desmond Powell were both born and raised in Jamaica before building their lives in Canada, Elizabeth in nursing, Desmond in aviation, and together, in entrepreneurship. Married for over 40 years, they spent decades caring for others, raising a family, and building careers far from the island that shaped them. But Jamaica never stopped calling them home, the fresh food, the warmth of its people, the beauty of its hills and coastline, the culture that lives in every conversation and every meal.

As they thought about what “coming home” could truly mean, not just for themselves, but for others like them, an idea took shape. Elizabeth had spent years working in senior care, and she knew firsthand what made the difference between a place where people simply stayed, and a place where people truly lived. She wanted to build something different: a home where independence is respected, where dignity comes first, and where every resident is met with the kind of warmth you’d expect from family, not a facility.

With the encouragement of family and close friends, that vision became real.
